The latest on the Sunflower front

Hi there everyone πŸ˜ƒ

It’s been a couple of weeks since I let you know how my sunflowers were doing.

I took some more photos before we came away and you can see that the two monster ones are doing really well … with plenty of blooms and still plenty to come …

I’m not sure if you can see from this photo but the first flower has now started to fade … it’s hidden behind the leaves a bit. I’m really hoping that the seeds will develop so that I can leave them for the birds for the winter.

This was its at its best … but on a duller day …
The smaller stems are now flowering nicely too …

I am so pleased with them … we’ve never grown tall ones before and the bees just love them too …
With the high winds and rain we’ve had whilst we’ve been away I’m not so sure they will still look as good when we get home … I will definitely be letting you know if we get seeds 🌻🌻🌻

  1. Your sunflowers were certainly later than ours, I have had to dig them up - the weather just finished them however I took all the seed heads and they are now drying in the glasshouse - food for the birds over winter :)

    1. Mum has popped round whilst we have been away and it sounds like the smaller ones may have succumbed to the weather. Hopefully we will have some heads we can save for the winter πŸ˜ƒ

  2. Wow, your sunflowers are doing really well! Mine didn't come to much this year, sadly.

    1. It’s the first time we’ve ever grown tall ones and we have had mixed results but some have been amazing. Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment πŸ˜ƒ

  3. I love all your sunflowers, they look amazing! How tall did they get? I bought one in a small pot, but it didn't seem to last very long.

    1. The tallest must be about 9 foot tall and they have loads of flowers now … all the way up the stem … they were a very slow burn but have ended up doing really well πŸ˜ƒ

Thanks for taking time to comment on my blog. I love to hear what people think about what Martin and I have been up to.
