Exploring :: Bude with the Family #3 ... Just Bude-i-ful

Hi there everyone πŸ˜€

We are currently in Wales, checking all is ok following our cold snap, but for today’s post we are back in the Cornish sunshine.

Bude really is one of my favourite places. I just love it. It has enough to see and do to keep it interesting, it's beautiful ... or Bude-i-ful as it's locally known, and whilst it is getting busier, in my opinion ... it hasn't lost it's old world charm or been spoilt through tourism.

When we are holidaying in the area we always manage to enjoy wandering round the same old places, seeing the old familiar sights that never seem to grow dull.

This holiday was no exception and we had a good few wanders starting with a walk along the canal after a family dinner to watch the sun setting over the breakwater ...
We watched for a fair while actually ... taking lots of photos ...
... before we all managed to wiggle ourselves onto the balance beam of the lock gates for a fab family selfie ...

As well as having a bustling town centre, with lots of moochy shops and plenty of places to eat Bude has a castle ... be it only a little one ...
There is the Bude light, which I believe was built as part of a Millenium project ...
There's the canal and canalside area, with craft shops and cafes, amongst other things ...
There are pretty ice cream coloured houses ...
... and lots of spots to just wander around and enjoy.

There are also beaches ... beautiful beaches ... two of them ... either side of the town centre.

We had a full beach day on Summerleaze beach, which is at the end of the canal, squeezed in between the breakwater, which is well worth a walk out along, and the sea pool, which is another lovely spot ...
Crooklets beach is the other side of the town centre, walkable along the cliff path, and is every bit as good ...
This is also our favourite breakfast spot ...
A very short drive out of town doing south and you will get to Widemouth Bay, another beautiful spot. We always like to stop and walk out to the point when we visit ... it's a real favourite spot ...
The views in either direction are beautiful ...
... and it's always a good spot for a selfie ...
If you are lucky there will be an ice cream van parked at the top so you can pick up a treat before you walk out ...
On a sunny day it really is a glorious spot ...
It would seem that the little chap quite likes it too ...

  1. Another lovely lot of photos, from Cornwall, somewhere I have been and enjoyed immensely. The summer must seem so far in the past for you now with your cold weather and Christmas approaching. Happy Christmas to you and your extended family from us here in Oz. Take care & hugs.
