Exploring :: Friends for the Weekend

Hi there everyone 😀

After we’d waved off David, Alison and Bobby we had a few days to chill out and get straight before our next set of guests arrived. This time Jo and Steve were visiting us for their first time and … you’ve guessed it … the forecast was for plenty of rain 😜

They were only stopping for a couple of days so we definitely weren’t going to let the weather stop us getting out and about so it was on with the wet weather gear and off to Trefor for a wander along the beach and the quay to start us off …

From Trefor we made the hairy drive down to Nant Gwrtheyrn, where it was looking very moody …
… and we had a very nice lunch in Caffi Meinir, before heading over to Criccieth for a bit if a wander and a coffee in Dylan’s.

We finished our wet weather wanderings with an hour in the arcade in Pwllheli and fish and chips in the rain shelter at the back of the beach …
We’d had a lovely day. We’d definitely made the absolute best of the weather and had managed to get out and about and show Jo and Steve some of our favourite places 😀

The following day Jo and Steve were heading for home and we decided to spend the morning in Porthmadog, with a wander around the harbour and the steam railway … hoping we’d maybe get to see some trains …
We weren’t disappointed on the train front and we got to see our first train come in, do plenty of manoeuvring and head off out …
We then sat in the sunshine and had a coffee and were rewarded with the arrival of another train. This time on the other track which crosses the main road …
All told I think we must have spent a good couple of hours at the station but we’d definitely managed to see plenty of train activity.

It was a short wander back across the bridge and through the harbour to the car park …
We waved Jo and Steve off as they then headed for home and we headed back to the lodge … there may have been a sneaky call in at Cadwaladers on the way …
