Exploring :: The Wye Valley #2 ... Ross-on-Wye & Symonds Yat

Hi there everyone 😀

We are back in The Wye Valley for today's post for the first couple of days of our week long break, which were spent meeting up with old work friends for our annual catch up.

We all met up in Ross-on-Wye, with plans for a wander along the river, probably a spot of lunch and maybe a bit of a mooch round the town centre.

It was an absolutely glorious day and the river and Ross were looking lovely ...
It was pretty warm so, after a quick dip for Charlie ...
... it was a slow amble that was the order of the day ... with the odd stop now and then for photos and the obligatory group selfie ...

It really was the loveliest walk along the river ...
.. and before we knew it we were at the bridge by The White Lion, where we were eating that evening ...
The pub was just opening and we were all ready for a spot of light refreshment so decided to check it out for later ...
We all decided it would do very nicely indeed and picked ourselves a nice table overlooking the river for dinner.

It was then time to retrace our steps back across the bridge ...
... and along the river ...
... to the town centre ...
... where we all decided it was far too warm for mooching round the town centre so, after another pitstop at another riverside pub, we headed back to our cottage for a lazy couple of hours before meeting up again later to eat ...
We had a lovely meal at The White Lion that evening sat in the sunshine, overlooking the river and we agreed to meet up at Symonds Yat the following morning.

It's been a while since we've been to Symonds Yat and the last time we went was in the autumn so it was so lovely to take in the views on another glorious day ...
There were plenty of selfies and photos ...
... before heading back to the kiosk for views from another perspective and ice creams in the shade ...
From here we headed into the village for a quick drink before parting company for a couple of hours before meeting up again at Jude & Rob's caravan site for our annual BBQ, which was a real treat ... and so lovely to be able to sit outside and eat with no fear of rain.

We really were blessed this time with the weather. It had been glorious all weekend and it really does make a difference. We were able to spend so much time outside, it was just lovely.

Next year you will find us in Thornton-le-Dale 😀
