A Winter Wander for Valentines’ πŸ’œ

Hey everyone!

I know l've been a bit quiet lately, but honestly, there just hasn't been much to report.

We've been easing into 2025, slowly making plans, getting organised, and doing a bit of decluttering … there's been some serious mind mapping going on! Instead of setting big, ambitious goals this year, we're taking things month by month, aiming for slow and steady progress with bigger projects over time.

One thing we're focusing on is making more time for Martin and me to get out together. It might seem like we're always out and about, but in reality, there are plenty of stretches where we do little more than watch TV and keep up with household chores.

We're also trying to be a bit more active.

Our small goal for February is at least three walks of 2,500 steps each week. It might not sound like much, but for us, it's a definite step up from our usual routine when we're at home!

With all that in mind, we decided to head out for a little Valentine's Day wander … not too far, just over to Lichfield.

We started with a stroll through the charming, bustling city centre, taking our time to soak in the atmosphere. We lingered in bookshops …
… marvelled at the size and freshness of the fruit and veg on the market …
... and admired the historic buildings that we found at every turn …
From the centre of the city, we made our way toward the cathedral, pausing for a quick selfie at Speakers' Corner …
There's always plenty to see around the cathedral …ancient buildings steeped in history …
… stunning views …
… intriguing glimpses behind gates and high walls …
… and even the first signs of spring peeking through …
And then, of course, there's the cathedral itself … majestic, intricate, and towering ever upwards …
Today, we decided to step inside for a look, and it didn't disappoint. The architecture and atmosphere were just beautiful …
By the time we emerged, we were more than ready for a pit stop. We made our way to Bistro Number 19, where it was so busy we had to wait for a seat …
But it was worth it and eventually, we settled in with a crossword and a sausage sandwich …
...which, naturally, was followed by a shared cream scone …
Then, it was time to head back to the car, strolling past Minster Pool and soaking in the last bits of our Winter Wander …
Back home, we had an easy, no-fuss dinner lined up … an M&S Valentine's dine-in special …
It turned out to be an absolute treat … made even better by the fact that it required so little effort …
Then it was time to finish off our day curled up, on the sofa for the first of our box of dates …
