Whilst it's been lovely having chance to reminisce about our Isle of Wight holiday last year ... especially whilst our February and March weather have been less than fabulous ... I think I'm pleased to be getting to the last few posts of our three week break on the island. Whilst I don't want to skip any of the lovely places that we visited I'm definitely ready to move onto something a bit different.
Day 16 - Sunday
Today started out pretty wet and gray ... with lots of rain and wind overnight. However ... it was 'National Get Outside Day' and that's exactly what we did ... with a re-visit for us to Quarr Abbey to show mum and dad around ...
We did manage to stay dry and even got to see a little bit of sunshine. There was a pitstop in the cafe for a light lunch ...
We had a good wander around and spent a while watching the piggies with their little ones as we made our way back to the car ...
We could certainly see what it looked like to be 'happy as a pig in muck' ...
From here we headed to Arreton Barns for a bit of a mooch round the farm shop ...
... and a wander ... where I just had to capture these chappies to share with a two year old who was crazy mad for pirates back then ...
Day 17 - Monday
It was mum and dad's last full day and we had no rain so headed to Mottistone Gardens, which was as lovely as ever ... in spite of the time of year ...
There were some pretty spectacular dahlias to be found ...
... and plenty of interest to be seen in the vegetable garden ...
We were all chuffed to bits that the weather was good enough to take advantage of the tea garden, where lunch went down a real treat ...
From here we headed over to Shanklin for a wander along the sea front and a very quick look at the old village with its pretty thatched cottages ... before heading back to Bramble for mum and dad's last evening on the island.
Day 18 - Tuesday
We waved mum and dad off this morning from the Gossips Cafe on the pier in Yarmouth, before doing a bit of shopping and settling down for a relaxing afternoon back at Bramble, where we managed to book a holiday in Scotland for next year ... in fact at the time of writing this post it's actually not now that long before we go!
