Walk with Us :: Rhaeadr Cymerau

Hi there everyone 😀

During our June trip to the lodge we managed to fit in two more new walks … in addition to our visit to Bodnant Gradens.

Our first was a nice short one … in search of the Cymerau waterfalls. It was a walk of about a mile and a quarter, found in our Hidden Waterfalls book.

We parked up in a lay-by on the road to Blaenau Ffestiniog and were soon on our way into the woods …
The path took us down a track …
… until we reached a right hand turn which took us over the river …
At this point we couldn’t see any falls but we could certainly hear them. This was our first view of the falls, which came as a bit of a surprise, and we couldn’t wait to get a bit closer …
It was an absolutely beautiful spot and with all the rain we’d had recently the falls were in very good flow …
From the falls we retraced our steps and the walk continued around the woodland …
… where foxgloves and honeysuckle were the wildflower spots for this time …
It was a nice little circular walk and we soon ended up back where we’d started from …
Once back at the car we decided to head for Tanygrisiau, where we had hoped to have a drink at The Lakeside Cafe …
However, we couldn’t have timed our arrival more badly … as we followed a group of about 20 bikers in … so decided we would avoid the queue and head for the tea rooms at Tan y Bwlch station instead. But not before spotting some track maintenance under way …
As it happened we were back this way walking again much sooner than predicted … and this time we beat the rush at the Cafe … but I will tell you more about that walk in another post 😀
