Photo Scavenger Hunt :: August #4 ... Bucket

Hi there everyone πŸ˜€

Right up until the last minute I thought I was going to be giving Astrid’s weekly challenge a miss for this week ... I mean … 'bucket' … I really had no clue πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Then I went out back to do that job that becomes my nemesis at this time of year … it seems to move on from a therapeutic half hour to a job that is a bit of a pain … the dreaded basket deadheading.

To be fair it does make a massive difference and definitely does seem to magically rejuvenate a tired looking basket … but I do tend to have fallen out of love with this task by the end of August.

These are the pots and baskets which are taking up my time … plenty of sticky petunias …

Close up some don’t look so good … but from a distance they still look like an explosion of fireworks …

The urn has been my favourite this year and still has plenty of life left in it. The fuchsias are ones I managed to over winter from last year and have done really well. I will definitely be trying that again this year …

But the topic was bucket I hear you say … well … I'm afraid this is all I’ve got …

It does look pretty close up though ...
Well I think that’s enough deadheading for one day … I’m off to see what other bucket inspiration I can find 🌷🌸🌹🌺🌻🌼

  1. Your 'this is all I've got'made me smile. I was so enjoying your beautiful baskets that I forgot we were after buckets. They are gorgeous. I know what you mean about sticky petunias. I always say I'm not planting them again, then do. Enjoy your lovely garden. 🌼πŸ₯€x

    1. I must admit I always say I’m not doing them again too … then I find a bargain mixed pack of plants in Aldi with them included and there we go again. They do look lovely though … but I had them when they go sticky πŸ˜ƒ

  2. Well, I enjoyed your baskets and urn, thinking along the lines that a bucket is a container and so are your baskets and urn. Then there was your 'true' bucket, so pretty! I have not grown petunias much and did not really know they were sticky but I grow Geranium palmatum (loads of them as they like to self-seed) and the flower stems are very sticky! On to September then!

  3. Very well thought out, but I'm definitely in love with your urn. You do have a gorgeous garden & the bucket of petals is very pretty. Take care & hugs.

    1. Thank you … the urn was an unauthorised purchase by Martin when he nipped to the garden centre for something else. I did wonder what in earth we were going to do with it at the time but, after moving it a few times and some garden alterations, it seems to have found a good home. It’s a good way of bringing colour to the patio area at eye level, you take care too πŸ˜ƒ

  4. I'm so glad you didn't miss this week, you have so many beautiful flowers! Even the deadheaded ones in the bucket are lovely and colourful. Thanks for sharing your garden, if only you could come help me make mine as gorgeous as yours!

    1. Oh thank you so much. It does seem to have had more colour than usual this summer … but we have been working towards that for ages. It used to be a real spring garden with nothing much going on in the summer at all, but gradually we’ve just kept adding bits and pieces … it’s definitely a labour of love πŸ˜ƒ

Thanks for taking time to comment on my blog. I love to hear what people think about what Martin and I have been up to.
